organic●ally™ recognized that there was something wrong with the way we were going through rolls and rolls of kitchen towels so very quickly. Paper comes from trees. Even if the paper used had been recycled, we are are using a lot of paper. Let's think: what was life like before disposable paper kitchen towels were invented? Why not switch back to cloth?
Table napkins are not only for posh people. It is nice to sit down to a meal with proper table napkins with which to wipe our mouths. (In this day and age, it is often just nice to sit down as a family to eat. Siew-Peng was surprised to learn how many young children do not sit down at the table to eat.)
Since we've gone down the organic cotton route, why not switch to organic cotton dish cloth and tea towels when our old ones wear out?
Then we learned that the Salad Greens Keeper made by Hankettes is a marvellous thing. With a small family, salad leaves go all yucky far too quickly. Sure, it could go into the compost heap, but why not try to preserve it for a little longer?
